CDL Driver/Transport Driver

The Transport Driver will be responsible for transporting goods and materials safely and efficiently, ensuring timely delivery/pick-up and ensure compliance with all DOT regulations and company policies. As a key representative of Greenfiber on the road, the driver will uphold our commitment to safe driving and customer satisfaction.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Operates a semi-truck according to applicable state and federal transportation laws
  • Transports loads safely and in a timely manner over required route, obeying all traffic laws and observing all safety regulations
  • Deftly maneuvers truck and trailer into loading and unloading areas; follows loading crew signals
  • Assists with loading of or loads and unloads goods and materials, using specialized equipment when warranted; unloads empty skids and returns all equipment to designated area
  • Maintains signed invoices, shipping bills of lading, and other required paperwork; delivers documentation to shipping office or other appropriate staff when delivery route is complete
  • Facilitates routine service on trucks, which may include checking oil, water, gasoline, and air; reports maintenance malfunctions to the Plant Manager or Transportation & Fleet Coordinator
  • Arranges trailers in shipping yards for optimum loading patterns
  • Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicle and equipment to include ELD (electronic login device) equipment and software
  • Communicate effectively and professionaly with dispatchers, shippers, and customers
  • Report any incidents, accidents, or vehicle defects promptly
  • Shuttles trailers between plant and off-site warehouses
  • Perform other related duties that may be assigned or associated with the responsibility of the position.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to speak professionally and courteously with customers and staff at delivery points
  • Ability to remain focused in a busy environment
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Must have the ability to operate a manual pallet jack to move material within a trailer

Education and Experience:

  • Must hold required and valid Class A CDL appropriate for weight of vehicle to be operated
  • Must hold a required and valid Class A CDL license without an E restriction.
  • Must be able to drive a manual truck.
  • Must pass regular background and drug testing as required by federal and/or state department(s) of transportation regulations
  • Clean driving record with a minimum of 2 years of commercial driving experience preferred
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and safety standards
  • Forklift certification is preferred
  • High school diploma or GED preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to drive prolonged periods sitting in a trailer cab
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 40 pounds at a time
  • Must be able to travel frequently which may involve occasional overnight travel
  • Capable of climbing in/out of trucks and trailers safely 
  • Able to regularly pass a DOT physical, initial drug screen, and random testing while employed
  • Must be available to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends, as required to meet operational demands.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 – $27.00 per hour
