Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailers with manual transmissions across assigned routes, ensuring compliance with all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Load and unload freight efficiently using appropriate equipment such as forklifts or roll-off trucks when necessary
- Handle various cargo types including refrigerated goods, flatbed loads, tankers, and other specialized freight
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to guarantee vehicle safety and readiness for each journey
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, routes, and cargo details in accordance with federal regulations
- Collaborate closely with team members to coordinate deliveries and optimize route efficiency
- Communicate proactively with dispatch regarding delivery status, potential issues, or delays
Experience
- Proven experience in commercial driving, particularly with tractor-trailers or similar heavy-duty trucks
- Demonstrated ability to drive trucks safely and confidently
- Prior delivery driver experience handling freight load & unload procedures in various environments
- Knowledge of route driving best practices and safety protocols for long-haul or regional deliveries
- Valid CDL-A license with clean driving record and necessary endorsements for hauling different types of freight
