Job Summary
We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused CDL Class A Steel Haul Driver to transport steel products to customer locations and job sites. The ideal candidate will have experience securing steel loads, operating flatbed trailers, and maintaining compliance with DOT regulations. This position requires attention to detail, professionalism, and a strong commitment to safe driving practices.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate a Class A commercial vehicle to transport steel products and materials.
- Properly secure loads using chains, binders, straps, tarps, and other required equipment.
- Conduct pre-trip, post-trip, and en-route vehicle inspections.
- Ensure compliance with all DOT, FMCSA, and company safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate logs, delivery paperwork, and inspection reports.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and warehouse personnel.
- Verify load accuracy and delivery documentation.
- Report equipment issues, accidents, or delays promptly.
- Assist with loading and unloading when required.
Qualifications Required
- Valid CDL Class A license.
- Clean driving record and current DOT medical card.
- Minimum of 2 years of commercial driving experience preferred.
- Experience hauling steel, flatbed freight, or heavy materials preferred.
- Ability to secure loads safely and efficiently.
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and hours-of-service requirements.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Preferred
- Flatbed experience.
- Steel hauling experience.
- Forklift or overhead crane experience.
- TWIC card (if applicable).
Pay: $30.00 – $36.00 per hour
