Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and experienced CDL A Local Delivery Driver to join our team. This role involves delivering freight efficiently and safely within local routes, ensuring timely service for our customers. The ideal candidate will possess strong driving skills, familiarity with various types of trucks, and a commitment to safety and customer satisfaction.
In those position you will utilizing a day cab truck with manual transmission, a 36′ flatbed and attached forklift to deliver building materials to customers and contractors within a 100 mile radius of Wisconsin Rapids Wisconsin. All deliveries are pre-pulled and loaded for the driver. There is no tarping and very minimal hand touch freight as most is palletized and unloaded with attached moffett forklift. Typical deliveries consist of lumber, drywall, shingles or block.
Hours are 7am until route is completed (up to 10 hours), Monday through Saturday (6 DAYS PER WEEK). Pay is $1,200 per week.
Duties
- Safely operate tractor-trailers including manual transmission trucks.
- Must be punctual, professional and reliable!!
- Load and unload cargo efficiently using appropriate equipment such as forklifts when necessary.
- Deliver freight to designated locations along assigned routes, adhering to schedules and safety protocols.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with DOT regulations.
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation and communicate effectively with dispatch regarding delivery status or issues.
- Ensure cargo is secured properly during transit to prevent damage or accidents.
Experience
- Proven experience required in truck driving, particularly with commercial vehicles such as tractor-trailers or similar freight trucks.
- Delivery driver experience preferred, especially within local routes requiring frequent stops.
- Familiarity with operating manual transmission trucks.
- Knowledge of load & unload procedures and freight handling techniques.
- Ability to drive various types of trucks including tractor-trailers and specialized equipment like forklift operation is advantageous.
- Must have a minimum of 2 years class A CDL
- Must have a clean background
