CDL A Driver with Hazmat and able to pass TSA Background Screening. This is a Monday-Friday position with optional weekends. We do not pay overtime. Straight time only. Local Metro Detroit. We have a lot of contact with Homeland Security and TSA Agents and are looking for dedicated professionals looking for a career location, not just a job. Good benefits, large enough to keep you busy, small enough to know your name. Several drivers have been here since we opened more than 20 years ago. 90 days to get your Hazmat and we help with the process. We do not hire job hoppers or people that show up to interviews in flip flops. With Hazmat the job can be dangerous so we are picky on who we hire and safety is our top concern. Solid MVR and PSP are required.
Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Truck Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting goods safely and efficiently across designated routes. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, excellent driving skills, and the ability to manage loading and unloading operations. As a Truck Driver, you will play a crucial role in ensuring timely deliveries while maintaining the integrity of the freight.
Responsibilities
- Operate commercial vehicles, including tractor-trailers and dump trucks, to transport goods to various locations.
- Load and unload freight using appropriate equipment, ensuring proper handling and securing of cargo.
- Plan and follow efficient routes for timely deliveries while adhering to traffic laws and regulations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including logs of hours driven, mileage, fuel consumption, and any incidents.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and other team members regarding delivery schedules and any potential delays.
- Utilize manual transmission vehicles as required for specific routes or loads.
Skills
- Proven experience in truck driving with a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL).
- Proficiency in operating various types of trucks, including tractor-trailers and dump trucks.
- Strong knowledge of route driving techniques and navigation skills.
- Experience with loading and unloading freight safely using forklifts or other equipment.
- Ability to operate manual transmission vehicles effectively.
- Excellent time management skills with a focus on meeting delivery deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail with an emphasis on safety protocols during transport operations.
