Duties
- Safely operate tractor-trailers with manual transmissions across designated routes, adhering to all safety regulations and company policies
- Load and unload freight using appropriate equipment such as forklifts or roll-off trucks, ensuring cargo integrity and security
- Deliver refrigerated, flatbed, tanker, or freight loads to various destinations within the Northeast region, following planned routes efficiently
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections on trucks and trailers to identify maintenance needs or safety concerns
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, deliveries, and vehicle condition in compliance with DOT regulations
- Communicate effectively with dispatch to coordinate routes, schedules, and any delivery updates or issues
- Ensure compliance with all federal and state transportation laws while maintaining a high standard of safety on the road
Skills
- Valid CDL A license with at least two years of commercial driving experience
- Proficiency in operating manual transmission trucks and various trailer types including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks
- Strong knowledge of route driving principles within the Northeast region
- Experience in load & unload operations using forklifts or other equipment
- Ability to perform thorough vehicle inspections and basic maintenance checks
- Excellent driving skills with a focus on safety and efficiency
- Good communication skills for effective coordination with dispatch and customers
