Job Summary
SAS Logistics, LLC is seeking an elite Car Hauler to join our specialized transport team. We are looking for a precision-oriented driver who thrives on the technical challenges of loading, securing, and transporting high-value vehicles. In this role, you will operate Cottrell heavy truck hauler (stinger-steer) equipment, which requires a high level of spatial awareness, mastery of hydraulic systems, and a commitment to damage-free delivery.
We maintain a traditional, driver-centric approach to logistics. Because we operate strictly within the 150 air-mile radius exemption, our drivers utilize paper logs rather than ELDs. This is a local position designed for those who want the challenge of a heavy hauler while maintaining the ability to sleep in their own bed every night. While we require a baseline of 2 years of car hauling experience, we provide specialized training on our heavy truck hauler setups to ensure you are the most proficient and safe driver on the road.
Key Responsibilities
- Local Operations: Execute daily multi-stop routes, returning to the home terminal at the end of every shift.
- Precision Loading: Efficiently load and unload vehicles onto a stinger-steer trailer, maximizing space while maintaining legal height and weight distributions.
- Securement: Utilize over-the-tire strapping and chain systems to ensure all cargo is damage-free during transit.
- Inspection: Conduct rigorous pre-trip and post-trip inspections of both the tractor-trailer and the cargo. Document any pre-existing vehicle damage via digital BOLs to ensure 100% accountability.
- Route Management: Navigate routes effectively, accounting for low-clearance bridges and weight-restricted roads common in heavy hauling.
- Compliance: Maintain strict adherence to FMCSA regulations, including accurate daily time records and paper logs in accordance with the short-haul exemption (150 air-mile radius / 14-hour duty period).
Qualifications & Requirements
To maintain our standard of excellence, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- License: Valid CDL Class A license with a clean driving record.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of verifiable car hauling experience (Required).
- Technical Skill: Proven experience operating a stinger-steer car hauler (experience with Cottrell preferred).
- Physical Ability: Must be comfortable working at heights (on the decks), kneeling, climbing, and lifting securement equipment in various weather conditions.
- Detail Oriented: Ability to handle complex paperwork and digital inspection apps with 100% accuracy.
