Responsibilities
- Safely operate buses in accordance with traffic laws, vehicle codes, and company policies, ensuring passenger safety at all times
- Assist passengers, including children, seniors, and individuals with disabilities, providing excellent customer service and support
- Follow emergency response procedures for transportation incidents, including CPR, first aid, and emergency stop procedures when necessary
- Maintain accurate records of trips, passenger counts, and vehicle inspections while completing shift reports
- Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle mechanical soundness and report any issues promptly
- Manage behavior and enforce safety policies with passengers to promote a respectful environment
- Respond quickly to traffic changes or road conditions to ensure timely arrivals and departures
Skills
- Proven experience in bus driving or commercial driving with a strong understanding of traffic laws and defensive driving techniques
- Knowledge of emergency response procedures for transportation incidents, including CPR and first aid certification preferred
- Excellent communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse communities
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary for vehicle maintenance or passenger assistance
- Familiarity with school policy knowledge, child care practices, and behavior management strategies when working with children or vulnerable populations
- Mechanical knowledge of vehicle systems to assist with basic troubleshooting and safety checks
- Strong customer service orientation combined with effective writing skills for documentation purposes
- Ability to work well under pressure, respond quickly to traffic changes, and adapt to dynamic situations on the road
