Duties
- Safely operate box trucks and other commercial vehicles, ensuring compliance with all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Load and unload freight using appropriate equipment such as forklifts or roll-off trucks, verifying cargo accuracy and securing loads properly
- Drive assigned routes efficiently while adhering to schedules, traffic regulations, and company policies
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to identify maintenance needs or safety issues before and after each shift
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation, logs, and route records for accountability and reporting purposes
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers regarding delivery status, route changes, or unforeseen delays
- Assist with special deliveries involving refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or dump trucks when required
Skills
- Proven experience in truck driving, especially with delivery routes involving freight transportation
- Familiarity with operating various truck types such as tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, refrigerated trailers, dump trucks, or roll-off trucks
- Ability to drive manual transmission vehicles confidently and safely
- Knowledge of load securing techniques to ensure cargo safety during transit
- Skilled in load & unload procedures using forklifts or other handling equipment when necessary
- Strong understanding of route planning and route driving best practices for timely deliveries
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members and addressing customer needs
