Job Summary
We are seeking an energetic and reliable Air Freight Cartage Pick Up / Delivery Driver to join our dynamic logistics team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for efficiently transporting air freight cargo between airports, warehouses, and customer locations. Your proactive approach and excellent driving skills will ensure timely pickups and deliveries, contributing to the smooth operation of our air freight services. Responsibilities
- Safely operate box trucks and other commercial vehicles to pick up and deliver air freight cargo according to scheduled routes. Chicago and suburbs.
- Load and unload shipments using forklifts, pallet jacks, or manual handling techniques, ensuring cargo safety and security.
- Verify shipment documentation, including manifests and delivery orders, to ensure accuracy before loading or after unloading.
- Maintain clear communication with dispatch teams regarding route progress, delays, or issues encountered during deliveries.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections, perform basic maintenance checks, and report any mechanical issues promptly.
- Follow all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies to ensure safe driving practices at all times.
- Provide excellent customer service by interacting professionally with clients during pickups and deliveries, addressing any questions or concerns.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a delivery driver or courier, preferably within warehouse or logistics environments. Will train.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; experience operating box trucks, Sprinter Vans.
- Strong knowledge of route driving, load & unload procedures, and safety protocols for heavy lifting and moving cargo.
- Ability to operate forklifts and pallet jacks; certification is a plus but not mandatory.
- Excellent customer service skills with a positive attitude and professional demeanor.
- Physical ability to lift heavy items regularly and perform manual handling tasks safely.
- Warehouse experience is advantageous for understanding cargo handling procedures.
- Must be able to pass a Federal TSA background check.
- Familiarity with driving regulations related to commercial vehicles and air freight operations. Join us in delivering excellence! Pay: $18.00 – $23.00 per hour
