After School Camp Counselor (Driver) Jobs in Deerfield Beach at GPA Youth Connection Center LLC
GPA Youth Connection Center is seeking a reliable, energetic, and caring Afterschool Camp Counselor & driver to join our team. This role is responsible for supervising children in a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment while also providing reliable transportation using a non-CDL required mini school bus.
The best candidates will demonstrate strong classroom management skills, the ability to foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere, and a genuine passion for working with children. Prior experience in childcare, camp programs, tutoring, or related fields is highly valued. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on children’s development through fun, educational, and enriching activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise children during after-school hours, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times
- Safely drive children to and from schools, camp activities, field trips, and events
- Ensure proper student loading, unloading, and adherence to transportation safety protocols
- Plan and facilitate engaging activities that promote child development, creativity, and social skills
- Manage behavior effectively using positive behavior management techniques
- Assist students with homework and academic support as needed
- Provide first aid when necessary and respond appropriately to emergencies
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment, including the bus and activity spaces
- Perform closing duties and light cleaning
- Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding children’s progress and behavior
- Collaborate with other staff members to create a supportive and inclusive camp atmosphere
- Ensure compliance with all child safety policies, transportation regulations, and program procedures
Schedule:
Monday–Friday
- 1:30 PM – 6:00 PM
Qualifications:
Must be 21 years of age or older
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to pass a DCF Level 2 background screening
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience in childcare, camps, tutoring, or youth programs strongly preferred
- Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills
- Dependable, safety-focused, and team-oriented
