Position Summary
Reporting to the Site Director, the Activity Aide/Driver is a key member of the St. Elizabeth Adult Day Care team. The primary role is to protect, sustain, and nurture patients by providing assistance with activities daily living (walking, toileting, and eating); as well as recreational activities throughout the day and meeting other needs as required.
- Safely transport participants to and from the Center using a wheelchair-accessible vehicle.
- Assist participants with entering and exiting the vehicle, including the safe use of wheelchairs, walkers, canes, and wheelchair lifts.
- Complete daily vehicle inspections, maintain vehicle cleanliness, and report maintenance concerns.
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care and supervision throughout the day.
- Assist participants with activities of daily living, including feeding, toileting, personal hygiene, transfers, and mobility.
- Engage participants in recreational, therapeutic, and social activities that promote physical, cognitive, and emotional well-being.
- Observe participants for changes in condition or behavior and report concerns to the Site Director.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies, including providing CPR and First Aid within the scope of certification.
- Maintain accurate transportation and participant documentation.
- Follow all safety procedures, HIPAA requirements, and organizational policies.
- Report suspected abuse, neglect, exploitation, accidents, or incidents immediately.
- Communicate professionally with participants, families, coworkers, and community partners.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the daily operation of the Center.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED
- Class E drivers license
- Minimum of three years’ experience as an activity aide in an adult day care setting or a long-term care facility.
- Interest and respect for the elderly and persons with special needs. Must have the ability to recognize and have concern for the participants’ needs, and the willingness to perform suitable services which are appropriate.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail, ability to problem solve, work independently, and adapt to changing priorities while exhibiting good time management skills.
Accountability:
Work under the direction of the Site Director.
Work Environment:
Employee may need to travel between St. Elizabeth’s Adult Day Care Centers in addition to the assigned day care center. This position may also require the employee to stand, stoop, kneel, crawl or climb.
To perform this job successfully, the employee must be able to perform all essential duties and responsibilities satisfactorily, as well as possess the skills to meet the demands outlined within this job description.
